About the Iris

It is said that the iris flower portrays friendship and trust. In Greek mythology Iris, the daughter of Electra and Thaumas, was the Goddess of the rainbow and served as a messenger of the gods and goddesses; a personification of the rainbow that represented a brief union of the earth and sky.

An aristocrat among flowers, the iris in modern culture is widely cherished for its beauty and diversity. it’s botany is the subject of worldwide interest as attested to by the existence of numerous iris societies and clubs and the American Iris Society, the official world registry of iris.
